We are building it in six areas: Reno; Sparks and the Truckee Meadows; Carson City and the Carson Valley; Lake Tahoe, on both the Nevada and California shores; Truckee; and Virginia City and the Comstock. These are our own groupings, not official boundaries. The site covers festivals, concerts, ski resorts, classic cars, food and drink, arts, outdoors and holiday events, with the practical details first: when, where, what it costs, and who runs it.
Where The Site Stands
It’s Reno is new (November 2026). The events calendar, area guides and history pages are being added one area at a time, starting with Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Until a page says an event is confirmed, treat it as not listed.
Beyond The Strip
Reno is known for its casinos. They exist, and this guide does not feature them. We put our depth into the ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, Donner Pass and Donner Lake, the Donner Party history, the Comstock Lode and Virginia City, and the classic-car tradition of Hot August Nights, all written from official, museum and historical sources.
Who We Write For
People who live in the Truckee Meadows and the Sierra, visitors in town for a weekend, a ski trip or a show, and history fans who want to know where the stories happened and how to visit them.

How This Site Gets Made
AI tools help us build It’s Reno, and we want you to know that. They speed up the research, help sort through sources, and handle much of the formatting and technical work. What they don’t do is decide what’s worth building. The It’s Reno team decided that every listing should show who runs the event, what it costs and the date we checked it, that Truckee, Lake Tahoe and the Comstock deserve their own deep guides, and that the guide shows Reno and the Sierra beyond the casinos; the team designed how the site looks and chose every feature on it.
