Why October 31
Nevada became the 36th state on October 31, 1864, the Virginia City Tourism Commission notes. The Division of Museums and History says Nevada Day falls on the actual anniversary “every seven years or so.” Wikipedia (secondary) says the state holiday is observed on the last Friday of October and gave October 30 for 2026. The Nevada Day Parade is run by Nevada Day, Inc., a Carson City nonprofit.
The 2026 Parade
The organizer’s site says the Nevada Day Parade is a tradition since 1938 and that the 2026 parade was October 31 at 10 a.m. with the theme Pumpkins, Pioneers and Tall Tales, led by Grand Marshal Steven Saylor. More than 200 entries march down Carson Street. Around it: a hot-air balloon launch at 8 a.m., the Single-Jack Rock Drill Competition at 10:30 a.m. on Curry Street, a beard contest at McFadden Plaza after the parade and a post-parade celebration with music and vendors at 3 p.m. A time capsule was to be sealed at 4:30 p.m., not to be opened until 2076.
Next Year
