The Old Mint
The museum’s own history page says Judge Clark J. Guild founded the Nevada State Museum in 1939. He spotted a “For Sale” sign on the historic U.S. Mint building in Carson City and campaigned to get it; the State of Nevada bought it from the federal government for $5,000. After remodeling, the museum opened on Nevada Day, October 31, 1941. A new addition was named the Clark J. Guild Wing in 1959.
Wikipedia (secondary) says the Carson City Mint began striking coins February 4, 1870, with a “CC” mark, and stopped in 1893. We did not find that on a museum page.
