The Riverwalk
The Riverwalk District says the Riverwalk is open 24 hours and that the city created the Raymond I. Smith Truckee River Walk in the 1990s, which brought new attention to the river. A business association formed in the early 1990s among owners along the renovated Riverwalk and is now the Riverwalk Merchants Association. Its office is at 135 N. Sierra Street, Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Regular Events
The district lists Wine Walks on the third Saturday of every month and a free Holiday Lights Festival with free train rides, photos with Santa and tree-lighting ceremonies at 7 p.m. on Virginia Street between Court and 4th. Its posts print November 28 to 29 and December 5 to 6, 4 to 9 p.m., with no year; those days fall on weekends in 2026, but we label the year as not confirmed. See the calendar for the live list.
The Whitewater Park
The river’s whitewater course at Wingfield Park has its own page: Wingfield Park and the Whitewater Park.
